Dr Alison Smith

Alison Smith is a registered psychologist who has worked for many years with individuals, couples and groups and taught at the tertiary level. She is committed to the belief that individuals can develop a sense of self-worth in a caring, accepting and confidential therapeutic relationship. Alison adopts a variety of therapeutic approaches, depending on the particular problem and needs presented by the client. However, she favours cognitive behaviour therapy and motivational interviewing. Generally, she sees clients for brief to medium-term counselling covering a wide variety of problems in every day living.

Alison is the consultant psychologist with "The Fearless Flyers" organisation, which (in association with QANTAS) conducts programs for people with a fear of flying. She specialises in stress management (work related and personal), performance enhancement, intense fears, promoting life-style changes (e.g., weight loss), and assisting clients to carry out recommended medical regimens (e.g., checking blood sugar levels in diabetes).
