Who we are
Philippa Naivasha

Philippa works with children, adolescents and adults using a creative counselling approach involving relaxation, visualisation and positive reframing of traumatic life experiences. She incorporates Art Therapy, Sand Tray and Play Therapy into her practice, as often her clients seem to gain deeper insight into and understanding of themselves through using expressive means as well as by talking.

Through these therapies, she addresses issues such as depression, anxiety, anger management, grief and lack of self esteem. Her working style is to focus on the client’s own strengths and is influenced by Solution Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy. Her first and most important aim is to develop a rich and trusting therapeutic working relationship with each client she works with.

She assists both children and adults to explore the emotional responses created by trauma resulting from such events as parental separation, death, illness, abuse, upset caused by life transitions and the myriad of other challenges that at times can cause confusion and distress.

Philippa is a qualified Social Worker and Art Therapist who has over twenty years experience specialising in both adult and children’s mental health counselling. She is registered with Medicare under both the GP’s Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan and the ATAPS programme which enables clients to claim either a partial or full rebate for her fees for up to twelve sessions
